About doctor
Rebecca Wald, MD
OBSTETRICIAN-GYNECOLOGIST
Biography
Dr. Wald grew up in Portland, OR, before moving east for college studies in public health at Johns Hopkins University. She completed her medical training at the University of Washington and initially completed a Family Medicine residency in Anchorage, AK. While in Alaska, she flew to remote villages via bush planes and discovered a passion for women’s health and surgery—which led her to apply for OB/GYN residency. She matched at West Virginia University (WVU) in the Appalachian Mountains. With a special interest in Global Health, Dr. Wald undertook rotations as part of her medical training in underserved communities in India, Botswana, Guatemala, and rural areas of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.
She was the first resident to complete the newly formed OB/GYN Global Health Tract at WVU. Whereas Dr. Wald enjoyed her time in Alaska and Appalachia, she is excited to be returning home to Oregon with her husband, toddler, and Labrador Retriever. She looks forward to spending more time with family, running marathons, improving her skiing, and enjoying Bend’s great access to the wonders of the outdoors.
